Slow down and learn to stitch in this hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop exploring the art of hand embroidery. In this class, we'll gather to practice foundational stitches, from the basic running stitch to the practical back stitch and satisfying satin stitch. You'll leave with a working knowledge of basic techniques and stitches and a started sampler to take home.

Each participant will work on their own embroidery hoop throughout the class and leave with their project, hoop, a needle and thread kit, and a printed stitch reference guide to support your practice at home.

All materials are provided. No prior experience is needed

Gretchen Boyce is a historian, multidisciplinary craftsperson, and founder of Craftfolk Collective. Her work centers on the connections between people, place, and craft, shaped by a career in cultural landscape preservation. A lifelong maker, Gretchen’s practice spans fiber arts, herbal medicine, and traditional foodways, rooted in seasonal rhythms and intentional practice.
