Join us for a hands-on, community-centered workshop focused on making fire cider, a traditional herbal tonic made by infusing apple cider vinegar with warming roots, citrus, herbs, and spices. In this class, we’ll gather to chop and learn together while exploring the history and folk traditions behind this seasonal remedy.
You’ll learn about common fire cider ingredients, their traditional uses, and how to customize a blend to suit your own tastes and intentions. We’ll cover safe preparation, storage, and simple ways to use fire cider at home as part of a seasonal wellness routine.
Each participant will create and take home their own jar of fire cider to continue infusing, along with a printed recipe and ideas for variations. No prior experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to get your hands a little sticky.
All materials are provided. This workshop is open to participants of all ages; children ages 10–17 are welcome to attend alongside a registered, participating parent or guardian.

Gretchen Boyce is a historian, multidisciplinary craftsperson, and founder of Craftfolk Collective. Her work centers on the connections between people, place, and craft, shaped by a career in cultural landscape preservation. A lifelong maker, Gretchen’s practice spans fiber arts, herbal medicine, and traditional foodways, rooted in seasonal rhythms and intentional practice.
